The Nature of Early Play Paint Panel & Magnetic Chalkboard Combo does double duty, giving children two distinct art surfaces on a single freestanding unit. One side is a clear polycarbonate paint surface; the other is a magnetic chalkboard. Each panel measures 2 feet wide by 2 feet high and comfortably accommodates 4 to 6 children at once, so a small group can gather around and create together without crowding.

Two surfaces, twice the play

The paint side is made from tough, shatter-resistant polycarbonate that stands up to brushes, fingers, and daily outdoor use, then wipes clean with water. Move to the other side and children get a real magnetic chalkboard. It is built from SureGrip™-coated steel, so it chalks easily and holds magnets, opening the door to letter tiles, shape sorting, counting games, and other guided lessons alongside open-ended drawing. Trays on both sides keep chalk, brushes, and supplies within reach so teachers spend less time managing materials and more time with the children.

Weatherproof and made to stay outside

This unit is designed to live outdoors in all four seasons. The chalkboard surface is vandal resistant and rinses clean with plain water, and the polycarbonate paint side is just as washable. Choose the in-ground mounting (no base plates) for a permanent outdoor station, or the portable base, which is recommended for indoor or wind-protected outdoor settings. One gentle-care note: skip abrasive cleaners and scouring pads on the polycarbonate, since rough scrubbers can scratch and cloud the surface.

Recycled materials, lower cost of ownership

The combo is manufactured primarily from recycled content. The posts and framing use RSP (Recycled Structural Plastic), and the flat panels use EcoColor recycled post-consumer HDPE, joined with stainless steel hardware. Across Nature of Early Play structures, recycled content averages roughly 85% by weight, and every product is made in the USA. Recycled plastic does not rot, splinter, rust, or need repainting the way wood or metal does, which means years of low-maintenance use and a strong story to share with eco-minded families and boards.

The combo is sized for Toddlers (18–36 months) and Preschoolers (2–5 years) and is ADA accessible, so it fits naturally into mixed-ability classrooms and play yards. It meets recognized safety standards including IPEMA, CPSC, ASTM F1487 and F2373, CSA, and ADAAG. Easy care and long service life

Day-to-day upkeep is simple. Both surfaces rinse clean with plain water, and the chalkboard’s vandal-resistant coating shrugs off heavy use. The one rule to share with staff: clean the polycarbonate paint side gently with a soft cloth or sponge. Abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, and rough scrubbers scratch the surface and can leave it permanently cloudy—damage that is not covered under warranty.
